Keyboard shortcuts

Undo, duplicate, move, and select without the mouse.

Keyboard shortcuts let you undo, duplicate, move and select items in the editor without reaching for the toolbar. They work on whatever is selected on the canvas.

When shortcuts don't work#

Shortcuts are paused while you type in a text field, a dropdown or a dialog, so keys like Backspace and Cmd/Ctrl+Z behave normally there. Click the canvas, or press Escape to leave the text you're editing, then try again.

A shortcut also does nothing when the action isn't allowed for that item. For example, some parts of a section can't be deleted or duplicated on their own, and an item can't move past the end of its group. The same rules apply to the toolbar buttons.

Moving through the selection#

Items on the canvas are nested: a section holds containers, and containers hold text, media and buttons.

  • Escape selects the item that holds the current selection. If you are typing in a text block, Escape stops editing and selects its container. Press it again to keep moving up. At the top, Escape clears the selection.
  • Enter selects the first item inside the current selection.

Moving with Alt and the arrow keys follows the layout. In a row, use Left and Right. In a column, use Up and Down. In the mobile view, moves change the mobile layout.

Undo history#

Undo and redo cover the changes you've made since you opened the editor. The history isn't saved, so reloading or leaving the editor clears it. Your changes themselves are still saved. You can also use the undo and redo arrows in the top bar.
